What might you be feeling?
There's no right or wrong way to feel. Many kids and teens feel a mix of emotions when they're diagnosed with IBD.

Worried
"What does this mean for me?"
Confused
"I have so many questions."

Relieved
"At least I know what's going on."

Sad
"It feels unfair."

Overwhelmed
"It's a lot to take in."

Hopeful
"I can still do the things I love."

What does my diagnosis mean?
Having IBD means you have a condition that affects your digestive system. It’s something you’ll learn to manage with your healthcare team, but you are still you — IBD doesn’t define you.
Your treatment will be designed to help control inflammation, manage symptoms and help you get back to doing the things you enjoy.
What happens next?
Everyone's journey is different, but here are some of the typical next steps.

More tests
You might have more tests to find out more about your IBD and how active it is.

Treatment plan
Your doctor will talk to you about the best treatment for you. This might include medication lifestyle changes or other options

Your care team
You may have a gastroenterologist, IBD nurse, dietician and other health professionals supporting you.
Learn and ask questions
It's okay to ask questions and take time to understand. The more you know, the more in control you can feel.
